1. Summer has slowed, warmed, settled; but it is swiftly coming to an end.  I’m preemptively mourning the loss, but excited to finish out at my job and take some time off, even if it is just a few days (back to the lake! and then a few free days roaming the city).

  2. Lest I forget

In the library last night, Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia smiled at me.  And I don’t mean that metaphorically, like I read one of his opinions and agreed with it, or at the least completely comprehended his reasoning.

I mean that I was sitting in the library, and Justice Scalia was there for an event, and he walked past my quiet carrel and smiled at me.

And so, as grueling as the next 15 days may be, it is nice to be reminded that I am living a dream.

  3. Cooling Off

Last weekend was good for color (foliage! almost), and I’ve never enjoyed photography inside a bar before.

Upcoming: the latest in my NYC forays.

  4. Later, NYC.

I caught a final stress-free golden hour (okay.  Fine.  I guess it DOES exist, occasionally, in New York) before my life picks up and I have to hit the ground running (which I suppose already started).  But that’s a different story.

  7. Phodography

It’s hard to explain to non-animal people exactly the effect that being pet-less is having on me.  When I was in New York this past weekend, I saw a cat through a vegan shoe store’s glass shop front and nearly ripped the door off its hinges in pursuit, before being told he might scratch me.  Turns out, he tried to, but my cat-like reflexes, built and developed over nearly 23 years of cat ownership, taught me to catch cats’ paws’ flinches and dodge.  To tolerate this better, throughout my time traveling, whenever I saw a sad stray or beloved pet on a leash I dodged through crowds or multitudes of motorbikes to get there.

  8. New York City’s Killin’ Me

This weekend (so far!  It’s not even over yet!), I’ve had the opportunity (finally!) to walk New York (and yes, I know it’s totally ridiculous I haven’t had an ordinary opportunity to walk Boston…yet).  Due to social plans or short weekends, I just haven’t been able to in many months.

    I forgot about the color.
